Introduction: The birth of Premature infant is a very stressful and critical situation for parents.protection and support family of such newborns seems to be necessary and important issue. The objective of this study was to assess the relationship between parents recieved social support with satisfaction of the caring premature infants hospitalized in neonatal Intensive care units in Tehran city.
Method: This was a descriptive -correlational study. Study participants were 130 parents of premature infants hospitalized in intensive care units of 3 selected hospitals of Tehran Medical sciences university during year1393. sampling was done by convenience sampling method . Data gathered using 2 questionnaire s as followes:
1- Social Support Questionnaire Tarkan et al (2000).
2- satisfaction with care questionnaire Mitchell (1996).
demographic questions were added to these questionnaires. Data analysis was done by spss v .20 using Test and regression test.
Results: findings revealed that affectional support was reported as the most received support aspect by mothers and fathers respectivly (mean 3/65,3.29).The least received support aspect mentioned by mothers and fathers was concrete Support hospital respectively (mean 3/24,,3.15)Mothers received more social support and satisfaction of provided care. findings showed direct and significant relationship between received social support in affirmational aspect with satisfaction of provided care among parents (P<0/05).
Conclusion: Accordind to the findings premature infant parents need more support especially in concrete special aspect. The planning creating opportuuities Program and giving support by health care team seems to be necessary.
