The effect of family-centered care educational program on Performance of mothers of premature infants hospitalized in neonatal intensive care unit

Introduction: Parents of premature infants experience high tension and disappointment in the NICU; Often due to lack of awareness of how their parents play their role  and interact with  their premature infants during hospitalization.
Method: This clinical trial study was performed on 60 premature mothers in Jahrom city hospital in 1395. Sampling was done by non probabilistic sampling method and then randomly allocated to intervention and control groups. In the intervention group family-centered care program was conducted in three stages with the researcher and mother near infant. the performance of maternal care was controlled by questionnaire.Mothers in the control group received usual care.
Result: The findings of the study showed that T test showed a significant difference between the two groups in terms of care performance. (p <0/001). Also, there were significant differences between the two areas of care performance between the two intervention and control groups (p <0/001)
Conclusion: The findings of this study may be one of the factors that mothers who bring their babies were admitted to relax and reduce anxiety; Participation is mother to care for babies. It is expected to not only provide the appropriate participation by family caregivers, family members, especially mothers in the care of the baby acquiring the necessary capabilities are adequate participation
