Manuscript Preparation Instructions
The Iranian Journal of pediatric Nursing (JPEN) publishes editorials and editorial comments, original (research) articles, review articles, case reports and letters to editor mainly in pediatric and neonatal nursing . All manuscripts are subject to review by the Editor, Associate Editors, Invited Referees and a Statistician when appropriate within 15 days. Acceptance is based on the originality, significance, and validity of the material presented.
Submission Process
Please read the instructions carefully to ensure that the review and publication process is as efficient and quick as possible. All material to be considered for publication in the The Iranian Journal of pediatric Nursing (JPEN) should be submitted via the online submission system.

Cover Letter: All manuscripts should be accompanied by a cover letter including the statements that there has been no duplicate submission or publication elsewhere; all authors have read and approved the final version of the paper; subject to attendance the authors have accepted to sign an exclusive license to publish and there is no ethical problem and conflict of interest. Institutional ethics committee approval form documenting that the study has been reviewed and ethically approved should accompany the experimental and clinical research articles submitted for publication.
Manuscript Language
The Iranian Journal of Pediatric Nursing (JPEN) publishes articles primarily in Persian.
Manuscript Format and Style
Whole manuscript should be written justified, double-spaced, with a font of 12 pt and "B-Mitra" style with margins of 2.5 cm from each side using a word processing document (save in .doc format). All pages should be numbered on the right lower corner beginning from the title page. Use the TAB key for paragraph indents. Do not use bold or italic for emphasis. Use superscript lowercase letters for further explanations.

Manuscripts should be organized as follows:
Title Page: All manuscripts should begin with a title page including title of the manuscript; type of the manuscript; full names, highest academic degrees and affiliations of authors; institution where the work was done; complete word count of abstract and text; the address, telephone, fax and e-mail of the corresponding author. Number of authors is limited to 8 for original articles and review articles and 5 for others. If the manuscript was presented at a meeting, the meeting name, venue, and the date on which it was read should be indicated. 3-6 keywords are mandatory for subject indexing in every manuscript taken from www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/
Abstract: Only in original articles, review articles and case reports, the second page of the manuscript should contain the Abstract, which should be comprehensible to readers before they have read the paper. Reference citations must be avoided. The abstract should be factual and free of abbreviations except for SI units of measurement. In case reports, a short abstract of 200 words is required. In original articles, a structured abstract of maximum 350 words must have four sections:

 1. Introduaction: should describe the problem addressed in the study and its purpose.
2. Materials and Methods: should explain how the study was performed (basic procedures with study materials and observational and analytical methods).
3. Results: should describe the main findings with specific data and their statistical significance, if possible.
4. Conclusions: should contain the main conclusion of the study.
Manuscript
 • Original article: maximum 3500 words
1. Introduction: a short review of literature and statement of importance of the subject
2. Materials and Methods: should be described in detail with appropriate information about patients or experimental animals. The statements of ‘approval from Ethical Committee’ and ‘the study applies the guidelines of The Declaration of Helsinki’ should be made.
 3. Results: should be reported concisely and regarded as an important part of the manuscript. They should be presented either in tables and figures, and briefly commented on in the text, or in the text alone. Repetition of results should be avoided!
4. Discussion: should interpret the findings in view of the results obtained in this and in past studies on this topic. State the conclusions in a few sentences at the end of the paper.
• Review article: maximum 5000 words
 • Case Report: maximum 1000 words

 • Letter to Editor: maximum 500 words
 
Acknowledgements
of people, grants, funds and etc. should be brief and given in every type of article.
Conflicts of Interest
 Declarations of conflicts of interest should be given before references in every type of article.
References
Authors are responsible for checking the accuracy of all references. References should be numbered in order of appearance in the text (in Arabic numerals in parentheses) and must be listed numerically in the reference list. Journal titles and author initials should be properly abbreviated and punctuated. List of all authors should be written if there are 3 authors or less. If there are 4 or more authors, list the first three and add et al. Do not truncate page numbers i.e. type 1253-1259 not 1253-9 or 1253-59. If an automatic referencing system has been used in the preparation of the paper, the references must not be left embedded in the final text file submitted. The citation of journals, books, multi-author books and articles published online should conform to the following examples:

Tables
 All tables should be on separate pages and accompanied by a title, and footnotes where necessary. The tables should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Units in which results are expressed should be given in parentheses at the top of each column and not repeated in each line of the table. Avoid overcrowding the tables and the excessive use of words.
Figures
 Figure legends should be given with a brief description as footnotes. Minimum resolutions are 300 dpi supplied at a minimum width of 16.8 cm. Figures should be uploaded as separate files in .jpg format.
Permission to reproduce figures and extracts
 Permission to reproduce copyright material, for print and online publication in perpetuity, must be cleared and if necessary paid for by the author. Evidence in writing that such permissions have been secured from the rights-holder must be made available to the editors. It is also the author's responsibility to include acknowledgements as stipulated by the particular institutions. Please note that obtaining copyright permission could take some time.
Proofs
Authors are sent page proofs by email. These should be checked immediately and corrections, as well as answers to any queries, returned to the publishers as an annotated PDF via email within 3 working days (further details are supplied with the proof). It is the author's responsibility to check proofs thoroughly.
