Introduction: Parents of sick infants are incurred more stress than parents of healthy term infants. Since an important part of the responsibility of nurses are supports to the parents. The aim of this study was understands the system of parental support in neonatal intensive care unit.
Methods: Qualitative content analysis was used in this study. The participants included 21 parents, doctors and nurses in Isfahan hospitals who were selected by purposive sampling method.
Results: Based on data analysis, four main categories were identified. Insurance organizations do not support the disruption of family support, parental economic problems, and cultural contexts.
conclusion: The family is the most important part of the community. Parental support system was impaired in neonatal intensive care unit. It is necessary to provide optimal care and environment NICU should be changed, Parents are involved in the care and necessary actions were done to promote the cultural background of community.
