Introduction:The mental health and reduction of children’s negative behaviors are influenced by their parent’s way of acting or traning. And the present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of group-based parenting education on reducing negative behaviors in 6 to 8-year-old children. Methods: This research was conducted using a quantitative approach and a semi-experimental design with pretest-posttest implementation, along with a control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of mothers of 6 to 8-year-old children in the city of Ardakan in 2023. Through convenient sampling, 30 individuals were selected as the sample and randomly assigned to two groups of 15 (experimental and control groups). Participants responded to the standard questionnaire on children's behavioral problems by Shahem and Yousefi (1378). Then, the protocol of group-based parenting education was provided to the experimental group through eight ninety-minute sessions. But the members of the control group did not receive any interventions. Finally, the research data were analyzed using SPSS-26 and ANCOVA. Result: The results showed that group-based parenting training based on the interaction of time and group membership had a significant effect on reducing the negative behaviors of 6-8 year old children including, attention deficit (F=111/03, P= 0/001), Fear (F=20/71, P= 0/001), aggression (F= 120/09, P= 0/001) and improving social behavior (F= 6/59, P= 0/009). Conclusions:Therefore, we conclude that group-based parenting education is an appropriate option for reducing negative behaviors in 6 to 8-year-old children. It is necessary to hold parent-teacher conferences with this content in schools to help parents with acquiring the skills.
