Abstract:   (440 Views)
Introduction: Managing emotions during adolescence is essential. Negative emotions can be reduced through psychological interventions. The aim of the present research was to determine the effectiveness of God Oriented spiritual group therapy on guilt and rumination in teenage females.
Methods: The current research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included all the students of the 9th-grade girls' schools located in District 1 of Tehran in 2023. The participants in the study were selected using a simple random sampling method. Finally, 30 students were randomly replaced in two experimental and control groups. Data were collected through the guilt scale Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (2007) and The Ruminative Response Scale (Nolen-Hoeksema and Morrow, 1991). Then the experimental group received fifteen 90-minute sessions (once a week) for 4 months of spiritual therapy, and after that, both groups were subjected to a post-test. Multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) was used to analyze the data by SPSS version 27 software.
Results: The results showed that God Oriented spiritual therapy was able to reduce guilt (P<0.05) and rumination in the experimental group (P <0.05). These changes were not observed in the control group.
Conclusion: God Oriented Spiritual Psychotherapy intervention can lead to the positive management of emotions in teenage girls and giving meaning to the individual's actions with four components of value, purpose, motivation, and capability can lead to a reduction of rumination and guilt. Applying this modality as a group in schools and educational centers can help the psychological well-being of teenagers.
Keywords: God oriented Spiritual Psychotherapy, guilt, rumination, teenager, female.
