The effect of mothers' feeding behavior education on eating habits of their toddler children in Hamadan kindergartens

Introduction: Mothers have a significant role on forming eating habits of toddlers. The aim of this study is detrmined the effect of mothers' feeding behavior education on eating habits of their toddler children in Hamadan kindergartens.
Method : In this semi-experimental study, 130 mothers of 12 – 36 month years old children were selected by a multi-stages probability cluster sampling from Hamadan kindergartens and were divided into the case and control group (65 persons) by simple sampling Group educational sessions were done case group. Before intervention and one month after that, data was collected with Dietary questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS software version 16 and with descriptive statistics, independent T-test, paired samples t-test and covariance test.  
Result: There was a significant between the mean of dietary behaviors scores of two groups before and after the intervention (p<0/05). Covariance test was done for omitting the effect of the viewing statistical different before of the intervention between the case and control group on the different after that. The result showed the significant different between two groups (p<0/001). There was a significant different between the mean of toddlers' weights before and after the intervention in case group (P<0.05). However, there was not a any significant statistics different between the case and control group before (P=0.1)  and after (p=0.4) intervention.
Conclusion: feeding behaviors education to mothers could improve the eating habits of their toddler. Improving toddlers' eating habits is an important step for enhanced the toddlers' growth and development.
