Effect of education and implementation of evidence-based nursing guidelines on Quality of nursing Care Standards in the NICU

Abstract Objective: Evidence-based nursing guidelines are a valuable source in increasing the nursing care quality. Measuring the quality of nursing care standards is the most important factor in improving the quality of care services. Therefore, this study has been done with the aim of determining the effect of education and implementation of evidence-based nursing guidelines on Quality of nursing care standards. Methods: This clinical trial, two groups was carried out in Baqiyatallah (AJ) hospital in Tehran city on all of the nurse working in The NICU in 1392. Before and after of implementation education program was measured by Quality of nursing care standards ,Standard questionnaire from the ANA nursing standards and Implementation guidelines check list and was evaluated by statistical software SPSS version 19 and using of descriptive statistics mean and standard deviation and t-test, chi-square . Results: The mean scores of nursing process phases before the intervention, in the nursing diagnosis phase 52.92 (11.008), in the planning phase34.50 (6.842), in the implementation phase 50.58(8.107) and in the evaluation phase 0.42(1.443). Recorded the mean scores of nursing process phases after the intervention, in the nursing diagnosis phase 75.33(10.748), in the planning phase67.33 (11.300), in the implementation phase 52.75 (7.149), and in the evaluation phase63.25 (8.422). Conclusion: Since the evidence-based guidelines as a valuable standards in providing quality nursing care, therefore to administrators of hospitals and health services centers, it is suggested that put education of evidence-based nursing guidelines in their agenda.
