Introduction: Mothers need psychological skills related to raising children. The purpose of the present study was to compare the effectiveness of attachment-based therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy on attachment style and quality of maternal care in mothers with preschool or elementary school children. Method:The present study is semi-experimental withpre-test, post-test, and design with a control group. The statistical population included mothers referred to counseling centers in Tehran in 1401. For this research, 60 mothers were selected by the available sampling method and randomly divided into two experimental groups (empathy-based therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy) and a control group (20 people in each group). The participants were evaluated with the demographic information form and Halpern's (2006) Middle Attachment Relationships Questionnaire (KCAQ) and the quality of maternal care of the victim (2013). SPSS -26 statistical package was used to analyze the data by covariance. Result: The results of covariance analysis showed that despite the lack of significant difference between the two treatment methods (p< 0.166), there is a significant difference between the scores of attachment-based therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy with the evidence group on the attachment relationship style (p< 0.001). Among the two mentioned interventions, only the attachment-based treatment led to an improvement in the quality of maternal care (p< 0.01). Conclusion: Attachment-based therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy are suitable methods for improving attachment style and attachment-based therapy are suitable methods for improving the quality of maternal care. According to the requirements of the conditions, the mentioned treatments can be used.
